Former political prisoner speaks out

Choo Chon Kai is a Leader of the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) and editor of its Chinese language newspaper.

He was detained under Emergency Ordinance (EO) together with five other PSM members for 27 days in 2011 prior to Bersih 2.0 rally.

Coordinator for the human rights organisation Suaram from 2002 as 2007 and also campaigned for the repeal of Malaysia’s repressive Internal Security Act.

Choo Chon Kai will also be speaking on the campaign to stop Lynas Corporation from processing Rare Earth Concentrate in Malaysia from its Mt Weld mine in Western Australia.
